Tune in Tuesday (12)

Tune in Tuesday is hosted by Ginger at Greads!

I've been listening to Creedence Clearwater Revival all week. I blame it on a last minute decision to watch The Big Lebowski on Saturday night instead of doing something productive (Netflix always catches me when I'm feeling unproductive).

CCR is one of those bands that a lot of people have heard but never seem to know their name. The last few people I've mentioned them to only recognized their music from Live Free or Die Hard or "that one part in Forest Gump". Which makes me sad.

Of course, all is not lost. If you want a great CCR cover we don't have to look further then the greatest Halloween movie ever: Hocus Pocus.

You just can't find delightfully cheesy movies like that anymore.

    1. It's one of my favorite movies. Well, anything with a talking cat really. You got to listen to CCR in high school? I was forced to listen to nothing but classical.

    2. We started out with classical and moved our way up the timeline so we listened to a bunch of different things. From what I can remember we listened to Bach and other stuff like that but then we also listened to Billie Holiday, Miles Davis, Duke Ellington, Elvis, Jerry Lee Lewis, Bob Marley, Jimi Hendricks, The Bee Gees, The Clash,James Brown, Run DMC, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and the list goes on...

  3. Nothin' quite beats a good cheesy movie. I agree, they just don't make 'em that way anymore.

    1. They really don't. In this movie no one dies. These days we just kill characters left and right. Well, Binks the Cat dies, but really he just moves on because he had already been dead. You know what I mean...

  4. I used to listen to this band with my dad when I was really young on my very own reel-to-reel player. I'm not sure if that's awesome or nerdtastic.

  5. Your reference to Forest Gump is right on the spot. I bought the OST and that is how I discovered them. Please allow CCR to remain as they are now (under the radar). You don't want the ppl from 'Glee' to get a hold of this music. :)

    1. Glee could not do their music. I've seen one episode of that show, and they should stick to pop songs.

  6. Yeah, I know I'm two days late and I don't even care because I adore Creedence like NO OTHER.

Seriously, John's voice gives me chills every effing time. I can't even.

Much respect for you right now, kid.
